Missions Journey: Students – South America
Don and Dawn Friesen serve Jesus Christ in northern Brazil. They have been in the Amazon region since 2009. The Friesen’s work with an indigenous tribe they call the “M people.” The Friesens live on a floating house. They built it so they could live close to the indigenous people group they serve. They also find ways to help their community. The Friesens feel it is important to first meet their spiritual needs and then their physical needs. They meet physical needs as they provide clean water and medical care. Scripture was instrumental in calling the Freisens to the missions field. One of Don’s favorite Scripture passages is Psalm 96:1–3. This passage helped shape Don’s call to be on mission and to declare God’s glory to the nations.
